CFD Consulting Australia

Don Computing provides computational fluid dynamics consulting across Australia for organisations that need reliable insight into fluid flow, heat transfer, mixing, ventilation and complex process behaviour. Our work connects engineering fundamentals with practical design and operating decisions.

CFD modelling services

We develop fit-for-purpose numerical models and clearly document assumptions, boundary conditions and limitations.

  • Internal and external flow simulation
  • Heat transfer and thermal-management studies
  • Multiphase flow, particle and slurry modelling
  • Mixing, reactors and process-equipment analysis
  • Ventilation, HVAC and indoor airflow assessment
  • Pressure drop, erosion and equipment performance evaluation

Experience across industry and research

Our capability draws on more than twenty years of CFD, process engineering, energy and research experience. Projects can support manufacturing, minerals, oil and gas, hydrogen, food processing, building services, transport, defence-support applications and product development.

Applications

Examples of problems that can be scoped include multiphase mixing, equipment pressure loss, thermal management, ventilation and hydrogen dispersion. A simulation study supports engineering judgement; the validation approach and any safety or regulatory requirements must be agreed for the specific application.

Process

  1. Define the decision: agree the scope, assumptions and outputs needed for your design or operating question.
  2. Prepare and solve: review geometry, mesh, boundary conditions and relevant physical models.
  3. Check credibility: assess convergence, conservation, sensitivity and available validation evidence.
  4. Report: explain flow and thermal behaviour, compare agreed cases and document recommendations, uncertainties and limitations.

Engineering decisions supported by evidence

CFD should produce decisions, not merely colourful images. We translate simulation results into recommendations for geometry, operating conditions, risk controls, scale-up and testing. Where suitable, simulations can be compared with plant measurements, laboratory data or published correlations.

Required inputs

Send the engineering question, CAD or dimensioned drawings, fluid properties, operating temperatures, flow rates or pressures, and the cases you want compared. Include any measured data, acceptance criteria and preferred deadline. If information is incomplete, an initial scoping discussion can identify what is needed before modelling starts.

Deliverables

Depending on the agreed scope, deliverables may include a technical report, pressure-drop and temperature summaries, flow visualisations, case comparisons and a review meeting. Native model files, additional simulations and ongoing support should be specified in the quotation.

FAQs

Can you work from drawings rather than CAD?

Dimensioned drawings can support an initial review. Geometry preparation requirements and any additional modelling effort are confirmed during scoping.

How long does a CFD study take?

Timing depends on geometry, physical complexity, the number of cases and available validation data. We agree milestones after reviewing the brief rather than offering a fixed turnaround for every project.

What makes a CFD result useful?

A useful result answers a defined engineering question and includes checks, assumptions and limitations. Images alone do not establish accuracy.
